Update: A New Chapter for Senspace

Dear Senspace NFT holders and faithful supporters,

We thank you so much for your support of Senspace over the last two years.

After careful deliberation, we have decided to stop additional development on the Senspace character world and associated NFTs. All music from the Senspace world has been relaunched on Base on Sound.xyz with the NFTs being airdropped to existing holders, so rest assured, you can still listen to the music that you purchased. The NFT music player at senspace.studio will no longer be accessible after November 1st. If you purchased your NFTs using an email address with our embedded wallet configuration, please refer to our link here to access your music at Sound.xyz: offboarding directions.

Commercial rights to all characters are co-owned by Senspace and the artist that they were created with, so despite the Senspace team discontinuing development of the IP, the IP will still live on in the hands of our collaborators.

Going forward, we are continuing to build out the Senspace community centered around a new application launching at Devcon in Bangkok, but this application will not leverage the Senspace character IP. All future Senspace activity will be hosted at Senspace.xyz.

We launched the Senspace character world with a vision towards bringing the creative communities around us onchain. The world was meant to be a fun, safe and welcoming environment for real world artists around us to participate in crypto without having to understand the complexity of the underlying technology. We worked very closely alongside the 11 artists that we onboarded, making each a custom character based on their own direction, each with its own lore. With commercial rights shared with the artists, the characters were meant to be open-source tools for the artists to leverage in their careers.

We did see some early success, selling out our first NFT drop, throwing parties with popular streetwear brands and memecoin projects in Tokyo and also brought families onchain together with an ERC-6551 enabled drawing event with close to 100 attendees, most of whom had never interacted with a wallet before.

However, after multiple years of experimentation, we feel that the character IP wasn’t set up to achieve our mission of bringing our communities onchain. Having to build our community artists’ onchain context within the Senspace character world created a layer of abstraction between our NFT holders and our community artists, which made it harder to connect with the project. Value accrued within the IP, but without an understanding of the artist’s story alongside the character, the world was not nearly as interesting to those around us as it was to us as the creators. In addition, without artists and fans connecting directly, we ultimately did not get the artists as excited about being onchain as we intended.

We plan to take the learnings and community that we’ve gained over these last several months into a redefined Senspace community with a new application that we hope can bring the communities around us closer together.

Thank you all again for your support and we look forward to continuing to have fun together onchain.

The Senspace Team
